“How in the hell did we get ourselves into this? My god Carla, one minute things and especially our lives are great, simple and but yet satisfying. Now look at us, we’ll never be the same again!” Carla, who was sitting across a table from her husband could only blink at him with a knowing and simpithetic look in her eyes since she was unable to speak. They both looked up from the table to find the man with the knife once again standing over them, peering down at them. They hadn’t expected him so soon, not after the last labor intensive slicing of poor Mr. Bigglesworth. What came next they didn’t know and could only guess. They weren’t sure they could take anymore though, Carla knew she couldn’t but, Norman wasn’t sure about himself.
The man with the knife placed a small tray on the table that was covered with a small white sheet. He leaned over and smiled devilishly at them both and removed the sheet. They both looked at the tray and Norman knew right then that there was no way he could handle it any longer and he spoke.
“Please no, we can’t take anymore, please don’t do this to us.” The man with the knife simply smiled and walked away from the table back into the other room leaving them both staring at the tray in utter horror.
